We report the spectroscopic classification of a nuclear transient Gaia17acn discovered by Gaia Science Alerts (http://gsaweb.ast.cam.ac.uk/alerts). The spectrum was obtained using the FOcal Reducer/low dispersion Spectrograph 2 (FORS2) on the Very Large Telescope (VLT). Spectroscopic classification was done using SNID code (Blondin & Tonry 2007).
