The Asiago Transient Classification Program (Tomasella et al. 2014, AN, 335, 841) reports the spectroscopic observation of ASASSN-17co The target was supplied by All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN).
The observation was performed with the Asiago 1.82m Copernico Telescope (+AFOSC; range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.4 nm).
Survey name | IAU name | Host galaxy | Disc. Date (UT) | Obs. Date (UT) | redshift | type | phase | notes
ASASSN-17co | SN2017awk | UGC 11128 | 2017/02/16.630 | 2017/02/18.16 | 0.018056 | Ia | pre-max | 1
(1) The spectrum is consistent with those of Type Ia supernovae few days before maximum light. If we assume the above listed redshift for the host galaxy (from Marzke et al. 1996, AJ 112, 1803, via NED) an expansion velocity of about 11800 km/s is derived from the Si-II 635.5nm absorption.
The classification was performed using the GELATO (Harutyunyan et
al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383)
and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ,
666, 1024) tools.
The Asiago classification spectra are posted at the website http://sngroup.oapd.inaf.it.
