We report the discovery of DLT17h/AT 2017ahn. The object was discovered on 2017-02-08.29 UT at R~18.10 mag (absolute magnitude ~-14.94 mag, assuming a distance modulus of 32.87 mag and a Galactic foreground extinction of 0.17 mag), during the ongoing D<40 Mpc (DLT40) one day cadence supernova search, using data from the 0.41m PROMPT 5 telescope located at CTIO. The transient is located at Ra: 10:37:17.45 DEC: -41:37:05.27 in the nearby (D~37.7 Mpc) host galaxy NGC 3318. We do not detect the transient (R>20.8 mag) on 2017-02-07.23 UT or in prior imaging of the field. All images were taken in a 'Clear' filter which was calibrated to an approximate R-band magnitude using the USNO-B1 catalog. SWIFT follow-up observations have been triggered. Further observations are encouraged.
