We obtained an optical spectrum (range 340-900 nm) of SN 2016jdw (=PTSS-16sjp), discovered by the PMO-Tsinghua Supernova Survey (PTSS), on UT Dec.30.9 2016 with the 2.4 m telescope (LJT + YFOSC) at LiJiang Observatory of Yunnan Observatories (YNAO). The spectrum is consistent with that of a type Ib supernova at about one week before the maximum light.Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the spectral comparison tool Gelato (Harutyunyan et al.,2008, A&A,488, 383) shows that the spectrum matches with SN 2004gq at t = -6 days from the maximum light. After correcting for a redshift of 0.0189 for its host galaxy MCG +05-31-168, an expansion velocity of about 15600 km/s can be derived from the absorption minimum of He I 587.6 nm.
