Spectroscopic Classification of SN 2016frp (= PTSS-16mvz) as a Peculiar Type Ib Supernova

We obtained an optical spectrum (range 370-860 nm) of SN 2016frp (= PTSS-16mvz), discovered by PMO-Tsinghua Supernova Survey (PTSS; http://126.96.36.199/ptss2/ ), on UT Sep.05.7 2016 with the 2.16-m telescope (+BFOSC) at Xinglong Station of NAOC. The spectrum is consistent with that of a peculiar type Ib supernova at about one week before the maximum light. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J., 666, 1024) shows that it matches with SN 2005bf at t=-6 days from the peak. After correcting for a redshift of 0.027 for its host galaxy GALEXASC J002132.53-055728.4 (from the narrow Ha line), an expansion velocity of about 9000 km/s can be derived from the absorption minimum of He I 587.6nm.
