We obtained an optical spectrum (range 330-880 nm) of SN 2016ayg, discovered by the PMO-Tsinghua Supernova Survey (PTSS), on UT Mar.12.6 2016 with the 2.4-m telescope (+YFOSC) at LiJiang Gaomeigu Station of Yunnan Astronomical Observatories (YNAO). The spectrum is consistent with a type Ia supernova at around one week before the maximum light. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J., 666, 1024) shows that it matches with SN 2005iq at t = -6 days from the maximum light. After correcting for a redshift of 0.046 (from the SNID fit) for its host galaxy SDSS J073017.25+250153.5, an expansion velocity of about 11700 km/s can be derived from the absorption minimum of Si II 635.5 nm line.
