We obtained a spectrum of the candidate supernova ASASSN-15uv (ATel #8488) with the SPRAT spectrograph mounted on the robotic 2m Liverpool Telescope. Observations started on 2016 Jan 01.073 (UT). The spectral range is 400-800 nm and the dispersion is 9.2 Angstrom/pixel.

The spectrum is consistent with a type Ia SN. Classification with SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) shows that this a SN Ia a few days before maximum light.
