Type Ic SN2005da: Radio Observations

We observed the peculiar Type Ic SN2005da (IAUC 8570 , CBET 186) with the Very Large Array on July 26.2 UT. No radio emission is detected; we place an upper limit of 0.11 mJy at 8.5 GHz. Assuming a distance of 64 Mpc, the radio luminosity of SN2005da is at least 100 times fainter than SN1998bw on a similar timescale yet comparable to the limits for SN2003jd, which also showed broad optical absorption lines at early time. Further observations are planned.
