SNhunt133 is an AGN in NGC 6315

We report that an optical spectrum of PSN J17124620+2313265 = SNhunt133, discovered in NGC 6315 by the Catalina Real-Time Transient Survey and S. Howerton, was obtained on Jul 24.04 (UT) with the 3.6-m Telescopio Nazionale Galileo equipped with DOLROES+LRB. The spectrum is very similar to the archival spectrum of the nucleus of NGC 6315 from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The properties of the spectrum and the photometric variability first detected on 2012 May 30 and reported below, suggest that the transient is not a supernova, but it is an active galactic nucleus.

In the course of an automatic survey, the Italian Supernovae Search Project (ISSP) monitored extensively PSN J17124620+2313265 = SNhunt133 with a 0.53m f/8.7 Ritchey-Chretien telescope (+ Apogee Alta U47 CCD camera). The following unfiltered magnitudes were calibrated to R magnitudes using reference stars from the USNO A2 catalogue:
