AT UT 2012 July 20.5, we obtained a spectrum of PSN J00563888-0954091 (discovered by Stu Parker, BOSS) with the Double Beam Spectrograph on the Palomar 200-inch telescope. We see broad P Cygni Halpha emission with a velocity width of 1600 km/s and absorption minimum at 8084 km/s. Running superfit, the best match is SN 1999em at +9 d. We classify this transient in NGC309 as a Type II supernova.
