Discovery of an Apparent Nova in M31

I report the discovery of apparent nova in M31 on a co-added 1620-s R-band CCD frame taken on 2012 July 18.988 UT with the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov.

The new object designated PNV J00423991+4126573 is located at R.A. = 0h42m39s.91, Decl. = +41o26'57".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is 49.7" west and 648.8" north of the center of M31 (see link to discovery image below).

The following R-band magnitudes were obtained using the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov:

2012 July 16.055 UT, [20.0; 18.988, 18.0 +/- 0.1.
