Renewed Activity from H 1743-322 detected by MAXI/GSC

Observations with MAXI/GSC have revealed an increased activity from the black hole candidate H 1743-322. The one-day averaged flux in the 4-10 keV band was about 80 mCrab during the recent three days (Dec. 27 to Dec. 29). During the period from Dec. 17 to Dec. 26, MAXI/GSC could not observe this source due to the sun avoidance constraint. On Dec. 16, the source was not detectable down to about 20 mCrab (5 sigma). The energy spectrum is best described by a power-law model with a photon index of 1.7, which suggests that the source is currently in the low/hard state. MAXI will continue to monitor this source which might move to the state transition. Follow-up observations with multi-wavelengths are strongly encouraged.
