We observed SN2009jf (CBET#1952) in NGC7479 with the Low Resolution Spectrograph on the Hobby-Eberly Telescope on 2009 Sep 29.119 UT. 2x750s exposures using the gr300 grating and GG385 filter were obtained. The spectra resemble SN1999ex and have prominent He I and Ca IR in absorption. The 5876 Ang He I line is blueshifted by 14500 km/s. We conclude that SN2009jf is a young Type Ib supernova.
