The Nearby Supernova Factory reports the discovery of 4 supernovae in images obtained Jul 18 UTC using the QUEST-II camera on the Palomar Oschin 48-inch telescope, operated by the Palomar-QUEST Consortium. Spectra (range 320-1000 nm) obtained with the SuperNova Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2-meter telescope were used to classify each. R-band discovery magnitudes and J2000.0 coordinates are derived from comparison with the USNO-B1.0 catalog. The following table summarizes the discovered supernovae (dates are UTC).

The spectrum of SNF20070718-018 indicates that it is potentially a very young Type II SN, with a very blue continuum and immature hydrogen features. There are numerous narrow, unidentified features blueward of 5000 AA rest-frame, and a P-Cygni feature with an apparent peak at 5800 AA, probably too far to the blue to be He I 5876. A redshift of z = 0.0142 is measured by cross-correlating the host spectrum observed in the integral field unit with an Sa-type galaxy template.
