On September 22.5, 2017, we obtained a spectrum of a supernova candidate AT2017gry/Gaia17chn with the Wide Field Spectrograph (WiFeS - Dopita et al., 2007, ApSS, 310, 255) on board 2.3m ANU telescope at Siding Spring Observatory. We classify the candidate as a young Type IIP supernova at a redshift of 0.02 by cross-correlating with a library of supernova spectra using the SuperNova IDentification code (SNID- Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024).
