AGILE confirmation of enhanced gamma-ray activity from the Blazar 1ES 1959+650

Following ATel #9148, reporting multi-wavelength activity from the BL Lac type blazar 1ES 1959+650, AGILE also detects increased gamma-ray emission above 100 MeV from a position compatible with this BL Lac source.

Integrating from 2016-06-08 08:30 UT to 2016-06-10 08:30 UT, a maximum likelihood analysis yields the detection of the source with a flux of (1.9 +/- 0.7) x 10^-6 ph/cm2/s (E > 100 MeV).

This is the first time AGILE reports a significant detection from 1ES 1959+650.

This measurement was obtained with AGILE observing a large portion of the sky in spinning mode.
