We report an optical spectrum (range 380-830 nm) of SN 2016M that was obtained on UT Jan.16.7 2016 with the 2.4-m telescope (+YFOSC) at LiJiang Gaomeigu Station of Yunnan Astronomical Observatories. The spectrum is consistent with a type IIb supernova, with prominent P-Cygni profiles of hydrogen (at 486.1 nm and 656.3 nm) and helium lines (at 587.6 nm). Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the spectral comparison tool SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024 ) shows that it matches with SN 1993J at t = -4 days before the maximum light. Removing the redshift of 0.036 for its host galaxy from the SNID fit, we derive an expansion velocity of about 11700 km/s from the absorption minimum of H-alpha.
