We report an optical spectrum (range 350-900 nm) of AT 2016G that was obtained on UT Jan. 10.6 2015 with the 2.4-m telescope (+YFOSC) at the Gaomeigu Station of Yunnan Astronomical Observatories of China. The spectrum is consistent with that of a broadlined type Ic supernova at a few days after the explosion. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the spectral comparison tool Gelato (Harutyunyan et al., 2008, A&A, 488, 383) shows that it matches with SN 2007ru at t = +4.6 days from the explosion. After removing the redshift of 0.009 for its host galaxy NGC 1171, we derive the expansion velocity as about 22000 km/s from the absorption minimum of the Si II 635.5 nm line.
