We report the spectroscopic classification of supernova ASASSN-15od discovered by the All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae ~1.1" from the center of the galaxy MCG -01-07-004 (ATel #7907). The classification is based on a low-resolution spectrum obtained on Aug. 15.14 UT with the Nordic Optical Telescope (+ ALFOSC; range 320-910 nm).
The spectrum is consistent with a normal Type Ia supernova about a week before the maximum light.
Name | RA (J2000) | Dec (J2000) | Disc. Date | Disc. Mag. | z | Type | Phase | Notes
ASASSN-15od | 02:23:13.21 | -04:31:02.05 | 2015-08-10.51| 17.4 | ~0.018 | SN Ia | ~1 week before max | (1)
(1) Matches found with several normal Type Ia SNe about 1 week before the max. light.
The classifications were done with GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A,488,
383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024).
