We obtained a low-resolution optical spectrum of ASASSN-15ns (ATel #7891) on UT August 7.9 with the LT 2.0m telescope (+ SPRAT). The spectrum of ASASSN-15ns is consistent with a Type Ia around maximum light with strong host-galaxy contamination. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) show that ASASSN-15ns is a normal SN Ia at -2 days. After correcting for the host galaxy redshift, we measure a Si II 635.5nm expansion velocity of approx. -10000 km/s.
