We obtained a spectrum of the recent M31 nova candidate M31N 2015-07d (PNV J00422994+4111210; ATel #7823) with the SPRAT spectrograph on the 2m Liverpool Telescope (Steele et al. 2004) on 2015 July 23.1 UT.

The spectrum shows strong Balmer emission (Hα, Hβ and Hγ) and numerous Fe II emission lines, including 4584, 4629, 4924, 5018, 5169, 6248 and 6456Å. All of these emission lines also show strong P-Cygni absorption profiles.

This spectrum confirms that the candidate is the early stages of an eruption of a nova in M31
