MASTER OT J040556.85+714813.1 - new CV
MASTER-Kislovodsk auto-detection system discovered OT source at (RA, Dec) = 04h 05m 56.85s +71d 48m 13.1s on 2013-12-23.77628 UT. The OT unfiltered magnitude is 18.2m (limit 19.0m). The OT is seen in 3 images. There is no minor planet at this place. We have reference image without OT on 2011-01-26.67021 UT with magnitude limit in R filter 19.7m.
GSC 2.3.2 has a star at 1" distance with coordinates 04 05 56.992 +71 48 14.12 and jmag=20.32. The star was in outburst on 1994 Jan. 09 POSS-II blue plate and at quiescence on 8 other Palomar plates. Comparison of 1993-09-25 and 1994-01-09 blue plates is posted at http://master.sai.msu.ru/static/OT/J040556+714813-POSS-B.jpg (4'x4' FOV). Color-combined (BRIR) finder chart is uploaded to http://master.sai.msu.ru/static/OT/J040556+714813-BRIR5x5.jpg (2x zoom). There is nothing at this position in 1RXS, GALEX, USNO, 2MASS, GCVS and AAVSO VSX. This area of sky in Camelopardalis is not covered by SDSS and CRTS.
Based on the previous outburst detection we conclude that MASTER OT J040556.85+714813.1 is a cataclysmic variable (dwarf nova). Follow up observations are encouraged. The discovery and reference images are available at: http://master.sai.msu.ru/static/OT/040556.85714813.1.png
