AGILE confirms the detection of an enhanced gamma-ray emission from the FSRQ 3C 279 reported by the Fermi-LAT in ATel #5680.

A preliminary analysis of the gamma-ray emission detected from 2013-12-19 T06:00 to 2013-12-21 T06:00 (E > 100 MeV) yields a flux F = (600 +/- 170)x10^-8 ph cm^-2 s^-1, in agreement with the flux reported by Fermi-LAT.

AGILE analysis reveals that on December 22, 2013 the increased gamma-ray activity from 3C 279 is still ongoing.

This measurement was obtained with AGILE observing a large portion of the sky in spinning mode.

Multifrequency observations of the 3C 279 are strongly encouraged.
