During a scan transit at 06:36 UT on October 5th, 2013, MAXI/GSC detected a soft X-ray flare from the region in Camelopardalis.
If a constant source flux is assumed, we obtain the source position at (R.A., Dec) = (126.99 deg, 81.16 deg) = (08 27 57, +81 09 35) (J2000) with a 90% C.L. statistical error of 0.48 deg and an additional systematic uncertainty of 0.1 deg (90% containment radius).
The 4-10 keV X-ray flux averaged over the scan transit was 72 +- 19 mCrab. There was no significant excess flux in the previous transit at 05:03 UT and in the next transit at 08:09 UT with an upper limit of 20 mCrab for each.
No known bright source exists within the error circle region. V* V496 Cam, a W UMa Variable, lies 0.31 arc-deg from the position above. All the stellar X-ray flares detected with MAXI/GSC so far are from stars in the ROSAT All-Sky Survey Bright Source Catalogue (1RXS, Voges et al. 1999). On the other hand, V* V496 Cam is not listed in the 1RXS catalogue. This may indicate that this event does not come from V* V496 Cam. We tentatively name this source MAXI J0827+811.
