MASTER OT J004619.12+414436.0 - possible Nova in M31
MASTER-Amur auto-detection system discovered OT source at (RA, Dec) =
00h 46m 19.12s +41d 44m 36.0s on 2012-12-25.58509 UT. The OT
unfiltered magnitude is 16.7m (limit 17.8m). The OT is seen in 2
images. There is no minor planet at this place. We have reference
image without OT on 2012-09-24.66947 UT with unfiltered magnitude
limit 19.1m.
The OT is located 2404" east and 1708" north of the nucleus of M31
(Andromeda Galaxy). There are no objects in SIMBAD database within 15"
from the OT. Nothing is present at this position in USNO-B1.0, GSC,
SDSS, 2MASS and GCVS catalogs, as well as in AAVSO VSX. Nearest GALEX
object is 2.2" away: GALEX J004619.2+414437 (FUV=N/A,
NUV=23.84+/-0.28). No previous outbursts were detected on 9
Palomar/NEAT images obtained on two nights in 2002 (Sep. 25 and Oct.
13).
We suggest that MASTER OT J004619.12+414436.0 is likely a Nova in M31.
Spectral observations are required.
