Recently, the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope reported a GeV flare from a source positionally consistent with PKS 0250-225 (ATel #4574). As a part of our optical/IR blazar monitoring campaign with the SMARTS telescopes located at Cerro Tololo in Chile, we observe blazars reported to be in a high flux state by Fermi. PKS 0250-225 was observed with SMARTS 1.3m and ANDICAM instrument on UTC 16 November 2012 (JD 2456247.65) in photometric conditions. We report the following magnitudes: B (19.8), R (18.5), J (16.6), K (14.5). The observed R-band magnitude is 1.3 magnitudes brighter than the value reported by NED of R=19.8. The data were calibrated using USNO and 2MASS standards in the field. The errors are likely dominated by calibration errors in those standard stars - the random errors in the observation were of order 0.05 magnitudes. We will continue to observe this source with SMARTS as the flare evolves.
