We have observed a recent NIR brightening of the high redshift quasar PKS2209+236 (z=1.125), cross identified with the gamma ray source 1FGL J2212.1+23 58. On October 23rd, 2012 we determined its flux in the H band to be 15.978 +/- 0.09. That is 0.8 magnitudes brighter than flux we had determined earlier on epoch JD2456196.704479 H = 16.69 +/- 0.09. So, its flux is rising fast. It is also brightest since we started monitoring this object on JD 2454625.908857. Observations were carried out with the 2.1m telescope of the Guillermo Haro Observatory operated by the National Institute for Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (Mexico), equipped with the instrument named CANICA a NIR camera. We encourage further multi wavelength coverage.
