RXTE PCA bulge scan observations on 2005 Feb 17.99 (UT) have detected emission consistent with coming from the black hole transient GRO J1655-40. The flux in the 2-10 keV band was 4.1 +/- 0.6 mCrab. The source was not detected in a previous observation on Feb 10.77 (2-10 keV flux measurement of 0.3 +/- 0.3 mCrab).

A dedicated scan to confirm the position and look at the growth rate is planned for Feb 20.
