AGILE is detecting intense gamma-ray emission above 100 MeV at Galactic coordinates (l, b) = (12.7, -65.6) +/- 1.0 deg (95% stat.) +/- 0.1 deg (syst.) (R.A.,Dec.=(345.38, -32.85)deg, J2000).

Integrating from 2011-05-14 03:00 UT to 2011-05-17 03:00 UT, a maximum likelihood analysis yields a detection at a significance level larger than 5 sigma and a flux above 200 x 10E-8 ph/cm2/s (E > 100 MeV). There is evidence that most part of the emission is below 400MeV.

No prominent extragalactic or Galactic sources are known within the AGL 2302-3251 error box.

This measurement was obtained with AGILE observing a large portion of the sky in spinning mode.

Multifrequency observations of the AGL 2302-3251 error circle are strongly encouraged.
