Starting 2011-February-11 at 19:22UT Swift performed an 8ks target of opportunity observation of a field that contains the known recurrent transient SAX J1747.0-2853. Swift/XRT detects SAX J1747.0-2853 in outburst with a flux of 8x10^-8 erg/s/cm^-2 (0.3-10 keV, uncorrected for absorption), and clearly in outburst. Swift finds the following location for the source, RA,Dec (J2000) = 266.76125, -28.88324, which is equivalent to:
RA(J2000) = 17h 47m 2.7s
Dec(J2000) = -28d 52m 59.7s
with an estimated error of 1.9 arc-seconds radius (90% confidence), consistent with the Chandra localization of SAX J1747.0-2853. This position lies 15.3 arc-minutes from the updated position of MAXI J1745-288 (Suwa et al., ATEL #3123), and we conclude that MAXI J1745-288 is in fact a detection of SAX J1747.0-2853 in outburst.
We note that SAX J1747.0-2853 also lies 7 arc-minutes from a recently reported Fermi/LAT transient in the Galactic Center (Vasileiou et al., ATEL #3162).
