We triggered our Swift program ("Unveiling New Classes of Transients with the Palomar Transient Factory; PI Kulkarni) to obtain target of opportunity observations of the type II supernova PTF10gva (ATEL #2603). Observations were obtained with the on-board Ultra-Violet Optical Telescope in the V, B, U, UW1, UM2, and UW2 filters beginning at May 7.19 2010 UT.

PTF10gva is clearly detected in all filters. Neglecting any contribution from the host galaxy, we measure the following preliminary magnitudes for the transient: V = 16.88 +/- 0.09 mag, B = 17.02 +/- 0.05 mag, U = 15.65 +/- 0.04 mag, UVW1 = 15.14 +/- 0.03 mag, UVM2 = 14.90 +/- 0.02 mag, and UVW2 = 14.86 +/- 0.02 mag (U, B, and V magnitudes are on the Vega system, while UVW1, UVM2, and UVW2 are on the UVOT photometric system; Poole et al, MNRAS, 2008, 383, 627).

Fitting these photometric measurements, together with our previously reported optical spectrum (ATEL #2603), to a black-body results in a temperature ~ 2e4 K.

We wish to thank the entire Swift team for the prompt execution of these observations.
