I report that a recent announcement of hard X-ray flaring activity from the broad-line radio galaxy 3C 111 (Krimm et al, ATel #2374) was based on erroneous analysis and I therefore retract the announcement. 3C 111 was not in a flaring state in hard X rays. Due to an error in the input source catalog of the Swift/BAT hard X-ray transient monitor, count rates for 3C 111 were confused with those of the black hole transient 4U 1630-47, which is currently in outburst (e.g. Tomida et al, ATel #2363).
I regret any confusion and misused observing time resulting from the earlier announcement.
