We obtained low resolution spectra of the optical nova candidate N2009-08a in M31 (RA=00 42 58.06, Dec=+41 17 29.8, J2000). It was discovered by W. Pietsch et al. on 2009 Aug 4.03 with 17.6 R(ATEL#2147). The spectrum has been taken on Sept. 18.03.
The nova has shown rebrightening, the brightness evolution in R-band from images taken by using the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov: Aug. 29.941, 18.3; 30.866, 18.3; 31.884, 18.0; Sept. 1.978, 17.8; 5.913, 17.8; 6.893, 18.4; 8.857, 18.5; 9.767, 18.2; 19.951, 18.3 with an uncertainty of 0.1 - 0.15 mag. The nova magnitude during our spectroscopy (V-band, Sept. 18.025) was 18.39 +/-0.04.
The spectra have been taken with the Russian 6-m telescope (BTA) equipped with the SCORPIO spectral camera. The spectral range was 374-783 nm, resolution 1.27 nm. The spectrum of N2009-08a is of the FeII-type. The spectrum is very similar to that of N2008-10b (ATEL#1871), which showed a rebrightening effect as well. Emissions of hydrogen, non-blended FeII lines and NaI D1,2 lines have P Cyg line profiles. Equivalent widths of H-alpha and H-beta emissions are 47 and 11 nm, their widths corrected for spectral resolution are 1330 and 1230 km/s, their emission component heliocentric radial velocities are -300 and -400 km/s respectively. Absorption components in the P Cyg line profiles of H-alpha, H-beta and three strongest FeII lines (492.39, 501.84 and 516.90 nm show the same velocities, -2000 km/s in the absorption peak, -2550 km/s in the absorption blue edge and -1550 km/s in the steep transition between emission and absorption components.
