Swift UVOT Observations of SN 2009Y

The Ultraviolet/Optical Telescope (UVOT) on board the Swift satellite started observing supernova 2009Y in NGC 5728 (CBET #1684) on 2009-02-05.82 UT. The following UVOT magnitudes were measured: v = 15.0±0.1 (157 s exposure time), b = 15.1±0.1 (236 s), u = 14.8±0.1 (236 s), uvw1 [181-321nm] = 16.7±0.1 (472 s), uvm2 [166-268nm] = 19.7±0.2 (1112 s), uvw2 [112-264 nm] = 18.2±0.1 (904 s). These magnitudes are on the UVOT photometric system (Poole et al. 2008, MNRAS, 383, 627) which in the optical is close to Johnson UBV, and have not been corrected for extinction. The UV-optical colors are similar to SNe I before maximum light (B band).
