Subjects: X-ray, Transient

Data from the RXTE ASM confirms the X-ray emission from the recently identified transient, Swift J1539.2-6227 (ATel #1855). Observations have been sparse due to the noted angular proximity of the Sun. Data processing efforts used the source position from the Swift BAT. The first detection was made on MJD 54799 with a flux of 75(15) mCrab at 1.5-12 keV. During 54804-54808, daily averages are in the range 160-240 mCrab (16). The X-ray colors are typical of a soft X-ray transient. Further observations are encouraged.
