AGILE detection of continued gamma-ray activity of the blazar 3C 454.3
During a dedicated Target of Opportunity repointing, triggered
by the GLAST-LAT detection of 3C 454.3 above 100 MeV (ATEL #1628),
the AGILE Gamma Ray Imaging Detector (GRID) detected 3C 454.3
in high state in the period between 2008-07-25 18:00 UT and
2008-07-28 03:00 UT.
A preliminary maximum likelihood analysis shows a detection at a
significance level above 5 sigma, with a source flux in excess
of about 200e-8 ph/cm2/s for E>100 MeV.
The AGILE monitoring of the source will continue till 2008-07-31 12:00 UT.
We strongly encourage multi-frequency observations of 3C 454.3 during this
gamma-ray high-state monitored by AGILE and GLAST.
