AMI-LA radio detection of the orphan afterglow candidate AT2023jxk

We observed the field of the orphan afterglow candidate AT 2023jxk (TNS report #179288, AstroNote #2023-167) with the Arcminute Microkelvin Imager - Large Array (AMI-LA) on several epochs. Each observation was conducted for 4 hours, with a central frequency of 15.5 GHz. The flux standard 3c286 was used to calibrate the bandpass response and flux scale of the AMI-LA and J1658+4737 was used as an interleaved complex gain calibrator.
The first observation, on June 27, 2023, show no emission from the reported position with a 3-sigma rms of 0.12 mJy. A point source is detected in the AMI-LA image taken on August 13, 2023, at RA = 17:02:36.90 +/- 0.08 s, Dec = +51:52:02.62 +/- 2.96 arcsec, consistent with the reported position of AT 2023jxk. The source is detected at a flux density of 0.20 +/- 0.02 mJy.

We plan to perform follow-up observations with the AMI-LA, and encourage further high-cadence multi-frequency radio observations with other facilities.
