We report the spectroscopic classification of ZTF23aaaatwl flagged by a custom filter on the ANTARES alert-broker (https://antares.noao.edu/) as a promising stellar explosive event from the public alert stream of the ZTF survey. The optical spectrum was obtained on 2023 March 16 UT with the Kast double spectrograph on the Shane 3 m telescope at Lick Observatory.
Name | IAU Name | RA (J2000) | Dec (J2000) | Type | Notes
ZTF23aaaatwl | AT2023awt | 06:24:52.89 | +02:08:18.22 | AM CVn outburst | (1)
Note: (1) The spectrum shows prominent double-peaked emission lines of He I and N I, typical of an AM CVn system, which is a rare type of white dwarf accreting He-rich matter. The light curve of the source can be accessed at https://antares.noirlab.edu/loci/ANT2023ea07zbb0dnad.
