We observed the Type IIb supernova SN 2020acat (TNS AstroNotes 2020-248, 2020-249) in PGC 037027 with the upgraded Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (uGMRT) on 2020 Jan 06.14 UT in band 5 (1000 - 1450 MHz) at a central frequency of 1255 MHz. We detect the radio emission at the supernova position with a preliminary flux density of 254+/-30 uJy. More observations are planned. The supernova position from our radio measurements is RA, Dec (J2000): 11 50 41.23, -10 13 38.94. Our detection at 1.3 GHz along with the high frequency ATCA measurements (ATel #14270) suggest that the SN is still in its rising/optically thick phase.
We thank the staff of the GMRT that made these observations possible. GMRT is run by the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research
