We report the spectroscopic classification of SN 2020sni as a Type Ia supernova. The object was discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility (Kulkarni 2018; ATel #11266).
The observation was performed with Binospec, mounted on the 6.5m MMT telescope (range 385-920 nm; resolution 0.4 nm).
Survey Name | IAU Name | Discovery MJD | Discovery mag | z | Type | Phase | Notes
ZTF20abxpzxg | SN 2020sin | 59087.48 | 21.0 | 0.077 | Ia | 1 week post-max | (1)
(1) An expansion velocity of about 10,500 km/s is derived from the position of the minimum of the Si II 635.5 nm feature.
The classification was done with SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024).
