We report the discovery of a probable nova in M83 on a co-added 630-s R-band CCD frame taken on 2019 Feb. 18.399 UT with the Danish 1.54-m telescope at La Silla.

The new object designated PNV J13370382-2948217 is located at R.A. = 13h37m03s.82, Decl. = -29o48'21".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 37.7" east and 215.0" north of the center of M83 (see link to finding chart below).

The following R-band magnitudes were obtained using the Danish 1.54-m telescope at La Silla:

2019 Feb. 6.394 UT, [22.1; 18.399, 19.9 ± 0.1; 19.401, 20.1 ± 0.15.

This work is based on data collected with the Danish 1.54-m telescope at the ESO La Silla Observatory.
