I observed the radio bright Type Ibc SN 2007gr (IAUC 8864 , ATEL #1187) with Chandra ACIS-I beginning on 2007 Aug 29.07 UT. The SN is not clearly detected in the 20 ksec observation. I place an upper limit on the unabsorbed flux of 3.9e-15 erg/cm^2/s (0.2-10 keV) for an adopted power-law spectrum with a photon index of 2 and Galactic foreground column density of 3.7e+20 cm^-2. Nearly simultaneous radio observations at 8.46 GHz show that the observed radio to X-ray flux density spectrum (F_nu ~ nu^beta) is constrained to be steeper than beta = -0.7.
I thank the Chandra DDT committee for approving this ToO observation.
