We report the optical spectroscopic observation of the supernova candidate ASASSN-17rj (2017jdy) using SALT/RSS (350.0-920.0 nm) on UT 2017-12-25 22:50:54 with 1200s exposure time. The target was discovered by All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN, Shappee et al. 2014). We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to identify the type, phase, and redshift of the SN spectra. The spectra matches with SNe Ia near peak at an approximate redshift of z=0.066. It is worth noting that, on archival Pan-STARRS images the position of the supernova coincides with a faint object, which is likely the host galaxy of the SN.
