The Asiago Transient Classification Program (Tomasella et al. 2014, AN, 335, 841) reports the spectroscopic classification of AT 2017fof, discovered by S. Leonini, M. Conti, L.M. Tinjaca Ramirez and P. Rosi (Italian Supernovae Search Project, ISSP) in UGC 10602.
The observation was performed with the Asiago 1.82 m Copernico Telescope equipped with AFOSC (range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.4 nm).
Survey Name | IAI Name | Discovery date (UT) | Discovery mag | Observation (UT) | Type | z | Notes|
AT 2017fof | SN 2017fof |2017-07-16 21:21:23 | 17.56 |2017-07-20.88 | SN Ia | 0.028308 | (1) |
(1) The spectrum is consistent with that of a Type Ia SN 1991bg-like events few days before maximum light, at a redshift 0.028308, according to the redshift of the host galaxy UGC10602 (Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 1). The expansion velocity deduced from the SiII 635.5 nm absorption is about 11600 km/s. The Sloan-r magnitude measured on our frames is 17.83+-0.05.
Classification were done with GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). The Asiago classification spectra are posted at the website http://sngroup.oapd.inaf.it.
