The Be high mass X-ray binary 4U 1036-56 has been caught in X-ray activity by INTEGRAL during recent
Galactic Plan Scans of the Muscae region from 11 Jun 14:27 (UTC) to 12 Jun 07:45 (UTC).
The source was detected by IBIS/ISGRI in the energy band 22-60 keV at 9.2 sigma level (4.1 ks of effective exposure time) with an average flux of 25.6+/-2.8 mCrab or 2.7 x 10-10 erg cm-2 s-1. At the 5 kpc source distance, it translates into a luminosity of 8 x 1035 erg s-1. No detection was achieved in the energy band 60-100 keV, for a 2 sigma upper limit of about 13 mCrab.
The source region was also covered by the JEM-X2 instrument. 4U 1036-56 has been detected at about 5.3 sigma level (3-10 keV, effective exposure of about 6 ks) with an average flux of 2.7+-0.5 mCrab or 4 x 10-11 erg cm-2 s-1 (4 x 1035 erg s-1 at 5 kpc).
Previous activity from 4U 1036-56 was reported by INTEGRAL in 2015 (ATels #8425, #8435) and by Swift in 2012 (ATel #3936).
