The Asiago Transient Classification Program (Tomasella et al. 2014,
AN, 335, 841) reports the spectroscopic observation of PSN
J08593491+4555343 in UGC 4709. Information on this transient,
discovered by F. Ciabattari, E. Mazzoni and G. Petroni (Italian
Supernovae Search Project) is available from the "Bright Supernova"
website (http://www.rochesterastronomy.org/snimages/) and from CBAT
Transient Object Followup Reports
(http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/index.html). The observations were
performed with the Asiago 1.22 m Galileo Telescope (+B&C spectrograph;
range 330-790 nm; resolution 0.9 nm).
Name | Date (UT) | z | Type | Phase | Notes
PSN J08593491+4555343 | 20150313.86 | 0.0281 | Ia | few days before maximum | (1)
(1) A good match is found with the normal Type Ia supernova 1998bu two
days before maximum light. The expansion velocity of the ejected
material, as inferred from the position of the absorption of the Si II
635.5 nm line, is about 10400 km/s.
Classifications were done with GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A,
488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). The
Asiago classification spectra are posted at the website http://sngroup.oapd.inaf.it.
