Spectroscopic classification of Gaia17cch/2017ghs as a normal Type Ia supernova

We report the optical spectroscopic observation of supernova candidate Gaia17cch (2017ghs) using the IMACS Spectrograph mounted on 6.5 meters Magellan telescope at Las Campanas Observatory on UT 2017-10-15.35. The target was discovered by Gaia Alerts (http://gsaweb.ast.cam.ac.uk/alerts/alertsindex). We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to identify the type and phase of the SN spectra.

The spectrum matches with normal SNe Ia, few (2 to 3) months old after maximum light. The SNID estimated redshift is consistent with the host redshift of ESO 317- G 032 (z=0.018).
